Drift 1
For my drift 1 project I didn't spend so much time manipulating sounds as to try to capture the natural surroundings. My strategy was an algorithmic walk in where I rolled a dice to see how many blocks I would walk. Whenever I was rolling for South I doubled the roll.

Birds, Dog, Shovel
Originally I just wanted to record the birds, but an wonderful transition took place almost to perfect to be natural. First the birds, then dog, and last the shovel, all originating from different directions. While I was recording it, the sounds seemed to be chaotic and I didn't realize all the different sounds that I picked up, until later while editing.

Saint Mary's Hospital Loading Dock
At first I was attracted to the increase in amplitude and echo from the sounds around me, but as I began to move around I discovered a very interest sound. By pointing one mic towards the loading dock and the other towards the road, as the cars drove by you can here the space around you. The left side holds the sound longer and louder than the right side does.

Stereo Ventilation
As I was recording the vents from the electric box I began to move the mics back and forth, I really liked the sound and feeling of the mics moving in a repetitive motion so I began to move in music times. What is heard is a combination of 2/4 and 3/4 time followed by zig zag patterns back and forth.

Wind Chimes
Chimes can give a surreal quality to any area, luckily this house's porch contained an excessive amount, and created a great atmosphere with its active surroundings. I wanted the chimes to be present but not over power anything, so that is why I recorded them a house away. I like how the subtlety of the chimes brings a greater focus to the actions going on around them.

Waterdrops
I ended up going on another drift walk on Sunday, and at 2:15pm I came across the sound of water drops falling from a roof. This was an interesting sound all by itself how ever there was an empty bag of chips on the ground that some one left and when the water hit the bag it made an amazing sound. Some of the recording is of the water hitting the bag, and some is hitting the concrete.
